Field Trip: Nest Box Workshop & Beginning Bird Walk at Newell Preserve

Walks and workshops aimed at Beginning Birders are held twice a month on Saturdays. All workshops begin at 9am, followed by bird walks at 9:30am until noon. (NSAS Event)

Leader: Crystal DeMarco

Description: Learn about the birds that use cavities for nesting and how building and installing nest boxes can provide them with much-needed habitat. This will be followed by a bird walk in Newell Canyon Preserve.

The workshop will last from 9:00 to 9:30, followed by a walk through Newell Canyon Open Space Preserve. Walks are appropriate for all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). Please wear sturdy walking shoes or boots and bring water and binoculars if you have them.

Directions: Meet at the Newell Open Space Preserve parking lot at 9:00 a.m. From Hwy 29, drive east on Donaldson Way until it ends and then turn left on Newell Drive.
