Field Trip: Beginning Bird Walk and Waterfowl Workshop at Lagoon Valley

Date: Saturday November 18, 2017

Time: 9:00 AM

Walks and workshops aimed at beginning birders are held twice a month on Saturdays. All workshops begin at 9am, followed by bird walks at 9:30am until noon. This walk is at Lagoon Valley Regional Park. (NSAS Event)

Details:

Leader: Crystal DeMarco

Description: Late fall is a great time to study waterfowl. They winter in the thousands, have gorgeous fresh plumage, and are busy flirting and chasing each other, making for some great bird drama. We will learn the differences between a dabbler and a diver, why female ducks are so drab, and why the male ducks seem to disappear.

The workshop will last from 9:00 to 9:30, followed by a walk through Lagoon Valley/Pena Adobe Regional Park. Walks are appropriate for all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). Please bring binoculars if you have them and water.

Directions: Meet in the Pena Adobe parking lot. Take Hwy 80 north to Vacaville. Take the Pena Adobe exit and drive to east to the Pena Adobe parking lot.
