Date: Saturday August 27, 2016

Time: 8:00 AM

Andrew Ford will lead us on a bird walk through Huichica Creek. The walk will last approximately four hours from 8 a.m. until noon. (NSAS Event)

Details:

Leader: Andrew Ford

Description: This Saturday we will be traveling to Huichica Creek, a unit of the Napa-Sonoma marshes. Fall migration is beginning and it is starting to produce some interesting birds. Waterfowl are beginning to arrive from the north. American White Pelican, Bald Eagle, various shorebirds, gulls, terns, and raptors should be found. We will be checking out the the wetlands, salt ponds and vineyards.

Huichica Creek is flat, 2.5 mile open trail. The temperature is likely to reach into the low 70's in the morning to low 80's in the afternoon, so be sure to wear suitable clothing.

Directions: Huichica is at the end of Buchli Station Rd. Take Hwy 12, Duhig Rd. and Las Amigas Rd. to Buchli Station. When the Buchli pavement ends, continue a further 1/4 mile to the parking lot. Directions are posted below. Address is 1190 Buchli Station Road, Napa, CA 94559.

NOTE: Car-poolers will share driving expenses, so bring some small bills if you plan to carpool. We also encourage a small donation for the trip leader to help offset costs.

Carpools are participant-organized; NSAS leaders will not necessarily be present. Carpools should depart the meeting location at the suggested time, so be early if you want to share a ride! There is no guarantee that there will be another individual arriving at the car pool location. Below is a list of the three suggested car pool locations and suggested times of departure.
