Field Trip: Lake Solano Park

Date: Friday March 06, 2015

Time: 7:30 AM

Weekly Friday trip (NSAS Event)

Details:

Leader: Murray Berner

Description: This week it's Lake Solano Park north of Vacaville. Recent sightings include Phainopepla, Lewis's Woodpecker and Red-naped Sapsucker. Barrow's Goldeneye and Hooded Merganser are likely on Putah Creek. A fine assortment of woodland and river birds will be seen, perhaps a few early migrants. This is true park, with paved trails, green grass, and big trees (in part). We will walk the length of the park on both sides of Pleasants Valley Rd. After that, we can take a short side trip to Putah Creek Rd and look at the broad open lake segment of the park behind the diversion dam.

Napa carpool leaves from the east side of Sweeney's sport shop in Riverpark shopping center at 7:30am. Riverpark is off Imola Ave between Jefferson and Coombs. Lake Solano is located at 8685 Pleasants Valley Rd near the junction with State Hwy 128. Park on the east side of the road. Fee is $5. Napa carpool will arrive about 8:30.
