What a fantastic morning! We met at 8am in the pouring rain but noted sunlight on the horizon. So we "gathered our forces" and proceeded as planned. Cloudy, gray, cool but no rain there. Observed 65 species including Sora, Virginia rail, Lincolns sparrow, Green heron, Loggerhead shrike & many other surprises!

The new trail is wonderful, winding between ponds & ending with great vistas of the Napa River. The rain created fresh, delightful fragrances & very interesting patterns on the Eucalyptus trunks that line the road.

Pre-trip Description: On this cloudy Friday we'll look at shorebirds, gulls and sparrows out the river trail beginning at the parking lot at the corner of Eucalyptus Dr. and Wetlands Edge Dr. in American Canyon. It's a stroll on a paved trail to the Napa R.

The Napa carpool leaves at 8:00 am from behind Sweeneys Sport Store in the Riverpark Shopping Center, located south off Imola Ave. between Coombs and Jefferson (link to a map below). Folks from Vallejo can meet us at the parking lot described above.
