Field Trip: Point Reyes

Date: Saturday April 10, 2010

Time: 8:30 AM

Join us for a day at Point Reyes, without question one of the best birding locations in all of California. (NSAS Event)

Details:

Leader: David Wimpfheimer, Naturalist

Description: Mid-April is an excellent time to see a large variety of birds at Point Reyes National Seashore. In estuaries like Tomales and Drakes Bays we will focus on shorebirds, grebes, loons and ducks, most in breeding plumage. We will also be exploring some of the forest habitats where neotropical migrants such as warblers, vireos and flycatchers are already on breeding territories. We will be visiting several different sites in both inner and outer Pt. Reyes. We'll continue until around 4 pm. Bring lunch, liquids and varied clothing for changeable weather conditions.

Directions: We will gather at 8:30 am by the restroom near the large parking area opposite the main Bear Valley Visitor Center, on Bear Valley Rd. not far from Olema. Click hereto open a map that shows the location of the Bear Valley Visitor Center.
