Details:The 3.5 acre Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden at Benicia State Recreation Area is a tranquil starting point to explore native plants sporting a variety of fall foliage. Come enjoy the forever views, the fall colors, and explore the trails as we search for familiar and unusual bird species. Recent sightings include a pair of Yellow Warblers and a Wilson’s Warbler alighting on golden cottonwood trees. The workshop will last from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m., followed by a walk through the park. Walks are appropriate for all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). Please wear sturdy walking shoes or boots and bring water and binoculars if you have them. Weather conditions can be highly variable. Layers, and insect repellent are recommended. Directions: From Vallejo, take the 780 East to Dillon Point Road in Benicia. Take Dillon Point Road 1.5 miles south into the park, look for signs for the Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden. We will meet at the parking lot directly adjacent to the garden.
